Product performance, reliability and safety

Products that are sold to consumers are required to be safe, as regulated by the Congress through the Consumer Products Safety Commission. The Loucks Group can help evaluate consumer products to determine their suitability for mass marketing, their vulnerabilities to abuse, misuse, and possible weaknesses in design or manufacture, and compliance with accepted standards and codes. Finding a potential vulnerability in the product can help the manufacturer either re-design the product, provide a warning against a particular foreseeable misuse, or delete the product from its product line. Examples of new products that can be evaluated are:

  • Toys
  • Hand and power tools
  • Support systems such as ladders, scaffolds or platforms
  • Electronic equipment, such as printers and computers
  • Appliances, such as washing machines, dryers, water heaters, dishwashers, gas fireplaces, stoves, and grills
  • Pumps and pump systems
  • Pipe couplings, valves and other fittings
  • Furniture
