Mechanical Engineering Team

The Mechanical Engineering Team investigates mechanical systems design, performance, and failures where complex mechanical systems are employed: food processing and packaging; steel manufacture from casting, forging, case hardening, machining, grinding and non-destructive testing; wood processing equipment; glass manufacturing, testing and performance; plastics molding, performance and compatibility with the intended environment; and other material manufacturing; petrochemical processing, pipe design and performance; consumer products such as furniture appliances, small engine machines; automotive, truck, rail, marine and aviation component manufacture, performance and cause of failure; medical devices such as prosthesis, stents, shunts, catheters, syringes, filters, vacuum pumps, tools and instruments; pumps, engines, pipes,
